To jumpstart efforts aimed at improving community wellness, Studio Fit One of North Canton announces the worldwide debut of Active Sitting Seminars®,” an innovation in education where attendees energetically engage in a lively seminar presentation as they ride a recumbent bike fitted with a comfortable core ball.
Studio Fit One CEO Rick Suarez developed the concept after reading widely dispersed research indicating that prolonged sitting ranks among the top four lifestyle factors affecting health and mortality rates. Given the evidence linking sitting to health hazards, he conceived of Active Sitting Seminars® as a way to counter the risk factors associated with sedentary learning and to promote “a healthful way to experience health education.”
The first in a series of Active Sitting Seminars® are free to the public and will kick off the second week in November, where wellness speaker Laurie Ruel will unravel some of the mysteries surrounding diet, nutrition and exercise in her talk titled “Finding Food Freedom.” Attendees will learn how to: lose weight while eating a wider variety of foods; navigate five major strategies for nutritional success, and; learn about the “10 Deadliest Nutrition Myths.”
The first round of Active Sitting Seminar events, geared at ages 18 and up, are free to the public and are being held on:
* Tues., Nov. 10 at 8 p.m.
* Thurs. Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.
* Fri., Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
* Sat., Nov. 14 at 12 p.m.
Attendees should wear comfortable active wear and training shoes and are encouraged to bring a notepad. Reservations are recommended.
